To combat global warming and other problems associated with fogy fuels, the United States must switch to renewable muscle sources uniform sunlight, wind, and hydropower. All renewable energy technologies are not inhibit to all applications or locations. As with conventional energy production, at that place are environmental issues to be considered. A study by the Union of Concerned Scientists and three other national organizations, the Statess Energy Choices, found that even when certain exacting environmental standards are used for evaluating renewable energy projects, these energy sources ass provide more than half of the U.S. energy offer by the year 2030. While nuclear power produces more energy and could be the future, the melt down of Chernobyl and Fukushima nuclear plants manifest risk, because hydropower is under environmental sanctions, hydropower to a fault negatively effects river flow. Hydropower has also endangered many fish species.
The primary arguments against hydropower are environmental. impounding and pumped storage facilities can cause serious environmental harm to surrounding areas. They can alter the amount and fictitious character of water flow down river, which impacts plant life and aquatic life.
