The Declaration of Independence is the single most crucial document in American history. No doubt it was looked land upon by the upper echelons in England and perhaps, it was even laughed at. Nevertheless, Jeffersons resolving power transformed the colonists into one single free minded individual. In The fond Contract by Rousseau, there are many ideas of what organization is supposed to do, but more importantly, these ideas strongly relate to those in The Declaration of Independence. Rousseau talks about how disposal should implement the large numbers will or the general will. The government has no intrinsic right to power; it is actually the pile who hold the power, and therefore, the government is actually the people. They should act in a way that is pleasing to the people, and if not, the citizens are able to rebel and take on that the government change their ways.
When the government does not act in the peoples favor, the government no longer holds figure of the people. These ideas are present at the beginning of the declaration when Jefferson states, …governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed (Jefferson 1).
