Hurricane Katrina: A Historical Tragedy
On August 28, 2005, Hurricane Katrina was in the Gulf of Mexico listed as a Category 5. On August 29th, Hurricane Katrina made landfall in the southeastern states as a Category 3. Hurricane Katrina has been recorded as one of the most destructive storms in the United States history. The bad hurricane claimed the lives of approximately 1400 people and created 81 billion dollars in damage. The authoritative death toll has never really been reported. How could this happen in America? With all of our resources and technology, how did we fail? These questions along with many others I will attempt to answer. Hurricane Katrina is one of the most horrific and diachronic tragedies of our time.
The responsibility for the damage has been the most controversial argument in history. Many claim most of the death and damage could generate been avoided. This historical event brought us to cohereher as a nation. It also kept us glued to the television. Everyone wanted to recognize the minute-by-minute progress.
