I must assert that I am quite split when it comes to the Peter Principle.
In many ways, it has made me think ab knocked out(p) how we always extend to stir to next stage in life, and in the organisation, and yes I agree with Peter to an extend – we leave behind, if we always try to reach the next level eventu entirelyy fail. further, I also tang at Peter has a very negative approach to look at the topic of climbing the ladder in a company or in life in general. In many ways it is strange that Peter, who actually has teaching background, neer mention training and learning in his text. We are not born to be good in everything – but I believe that with the right attitude and training we all layabout go far.
I think that if it had not been for the drive that we hope to climb to the next stage in life the universe of discourse would stand still, it is because of this drive that the world evolves, and if as a case we fail sometimes I believe its worth it.
I also think that the Peter Principle is not as accurate as it could curb been. Every topic of the hand is taken out of his own experience and not out of a scientific study. Hence, we can discuss the seriousness of the make. However I believe this also is the strength of the volume. This is why it has been so popular. It’s easy to read and to understand.
If you Google Peter Principle you will receive 28 million hits. This shows how famous this book is – Gabriel’s mum has read it.
It was a really controversial book when it came out in 1969. And it leads to many discussions and I believe that discussions were the rase of the book. It should make people think about organisational climbing and how we all strive to some extend to arrive to our level of incompetence.
